I’m one of those lucky daughters who can boast about their mum’s crafty talents. Growing up I had hand-knitted knitwear, upcycled blouses and stunning sewn party dresses. That’s why I love fashion and that’s why I appreciate well-constructed, throughtful clothing above even the most chicest mass-produced buy. That’s why I love Wool and the Gang, the ready-to-wear and DIY fashion brand, that’s shaken the twee off knitwear and knitting and given it a street style makeover. You can either let the ‘Gang’ make your purchase or buy the kit to do it yourself.
The London-based label have just released its first baby collection. The Shiny Happy Baby range has everything you need to generate all the oohs and aahs you’ll ever need. I’m a huge fan of baby knits, MG wore a Nana-knitted grey dungarees and cardigan outfit for his Christening, but if you’re not lucky enough to have a skillful Nana to create your baby wares, you can choose between stylish bibs, bloomers, blankets, dresses, hats and cardigans. Colours are a rousing selection of muted greys, white and pastels with in your face crayon brights – naturally I love the yellow AND you can have words or initials added to your purchase for that extra special touch.
